Tips to Avoid Credit Card Fraud

Everyone has heard plenty of horror stories about online credit card fraud. Subsequently, a lot of people are very nervous about typing down their credit card details on the internet. The reality is that a secure online order form is much more reliable than all of the people you hand your credit card to every day. While there are some risks, as a consumer, there is actually a lot of protection on your side. What you, as a florist and a business owner, are probably more interested in is the risks involved with accepting credit card payments over the phone and via the internet. Surprisingly, there is a much higher rate of fraudulent purchases made over the phone (often on mobile phones) than through the internet / online stores. Here are a few precautions you can take when you are receiving payments over the phone or through the net: 1. Take a few extra steps to ensure you have complete information, including full address and phone number, before filling an order. It is worth checking the phone number by calling the customer back and verifying the address. 2. A lot of business owners are advised to be wary of orders using a different billing and shipping address. Obviously, this is often going to be the case for you. You can, as an added precaution, ask the customer to send a fax with their signature and credit card number to authorise the transaction. 3. A large number of Fraud cases are orders that come from free...

Selling Flowers Online / eCommerce

Here is a question a lot of you might be asking yourselves. Is my business going to benefit from ecommerce? With a lot of people confused about what ecommerce actually is, that question can be very hard to address. So, let’s clear up a little bit of the mystery surrounding it. The term Ecommerce refers literally to electronic commerce and, quite simply, is any form of business conducted electronically. There are a lot of options from electronic payments to email marketing to SMS messaging. However, the one that pops into most peoples minds when they hear ecommerce is online stores (websites that have a shopping cart function). I think we all know what a website is, but what is a shopping cart exactly? It is, in very simple terms, a series of scripts (computer codes) that make a list of what the customer chooses to buy until they have spent all their money and “checkout”. The shopping cart has the appearance of completing the whole transaction for the customer. The truth is that it just takes the order and passes it on through a secure connection (a separate service) to a payment gateway (another service). The payment gateway then transfers the details to an internet merchant account with your bank. Finally, the shopping cart receives confirmation of funds (or denial) and responds accordingly.   Now, that was supposed to be a simple explanation, but it still looks pretty confusing. The truth is that setting up...

Consumer’s Guide To Online Flower Delivery

Finding the right gift for a special occasion can be a daunting task. However, a gift of flowers or plants is always appropriate. These days, florist websites offer the ease and convenience of online shopping, plus most importantly, same-day flower delivery to other areas or even distant countries. Prior to 1998, florists, supermarkets and garden supply stores were often the only place to purchase flowers. However, the advent e-commerce has seen florist websites grow by more than 20 percent per year. For a while it looked like the internet was going to kill off the familiar bricks-and-mortar florist shop, until online delivery services became partners with local florists. This partnership has proven to be a major boon for both consumers and the cut flower industry. When selecting online delivery, it’s smart to decide in advance what you’re seeking. Most floral websites, such as Ready Flowers, are divided into categories to make it easy to find the right arrangement. There are separate pages for romantic occasions such as Valentine’s Day or anniversaries, life events like birthdays, new babies, get well and sympathy, as well as sections for congratulations and corporate gifts. Consumers can also shop by price, colour, type of flower or gift, who the recipient is and a variety of other specifications. One of the key advantages to shopping online for floral arrangements is that of speedy delivery....

Brothers and sisters usually bring up positive feelings, but if not, that’s interesting too. Exercise and Working Out. This topic might not be a great one if your date is obviously out of shape, but most people enjoy talking about their workout routines. Travel. 4 Ideal Places For First Dates

A first date can be challenging, thrilling and rewarding. While finding conversation points may be difficult, finding the right place to meet does not have to be. Here are some ideal locations to go on a first date. 1. Coffee shop For a starting point, try going to a coffee house. The benefits are huge. To begin with, the location enables the couple to get to know each other across a table with hardly any distractions. There is no pressure on what to food to order or what movie to see. The focus is on conversation and on the other person. You can even sneak her a surprise rose bouquet if you are confident enough. Some people do not like coffee and that is fine. Coffee houses have other beverages and these differences open the door to a discussion topic. 2. Ice cream shop If the weather is nice, try going to an ice cream shop. Ice cream flavours and toppings are endless and it gives a chance for the couple to find out what each other like. On a hot day, it may be good to stay inside the shop and talk about how to stay cool. Like going to a coffee house, an ice cream shop focuses the couple on learning about the other person. Ice cream date appears to be a cool idea, as Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and their respective dates choose such venues. 3. Amusement park Another date venue to consider is going to an amusement park. An amusement park may be ideal for a couple who may want to get to know each other, but do not...

5 Reasons Why We Send Roses on Valentines Day

Giving flowers on Valentine’s Day is a tradition that goes back several centuries. It may have its roots in a Swedish tradition started in the 18th century. Historians are not sure exactly when giving roses first became a token of love, however. Red roses have long symbolized fertility and true love, and they were often used in weddings. In addition, the sweet scent of flowers was once thought to ward off disease – giving flowers, therefore ensured the receiver’s good health. Despite the lack of concrete historical data regarding the rose’s tradition, we do know these things and more. 1. Roses Send a Message Bouquets of flowers were once used as a way to send a message to the receiver, discretely. During many time periods in history, significant numbers of people were illiterate. Sending flowers was one clear way to send a message without the need for words. In the case of roses, the message is love. It is no surprise that to send roses became popular for a holiday celebrating love. 2. Roses symbolise love Red roses have traditionally symbolised romantic love. Pink roses can symbolise this too, but some people feel that pink represents a chaste form of love or simply gratitude and caring thoughts. Yellow and white roses symbolize friendship and peace, respectively. These are less commonly given on Valentine’s Day — unless they are used as part of a large bouquet. 3. Roses Express Love Even From a...

The Magic of Valentines Day Flowers

The Magic of Valentines Day Flowers

Valentine’s Day is routinely observed by presenting romantic partners with confectionery, Valentines Day flowers, cards and dinners out on the town. Society has been celebrating February 14 since Roman days. The tradition of giving Valentine’s Day flowers to a loved one may have its roots in the flower crowned skull that’s all that’s left of St. Valentine and is on display in Rome. Nothing much is known of St. Valentine himself because he lived so long ago, but legends suggest that he was instrumental in protecting many people from religious persecution. Although it’s common to send a bouquet of classic red roses for Valentine’s Day, other floral options are easily available besides hothouse roses. In fact, some women may appreciate other kinds of flowers because red roses may be not be seen as individual enough. Because of advances in greenhouse technology, virtually any kind of flower is available as long as it is commercially grown. Commercial greenhouses that operate on a year-round basis provide most of the flowers that are given on Valentine’s Day. Having flowers sent to someone’s home or office is fairly easy in these modern times and can usually be accomplished by spending a few quick minutes online arranging for delivery. Valentine’s Day flowers range from large, ornate floral creations brimming with several different types of flowers and containing...

How to Choose the Right On-line Flower Company this Valentines Day

Flowers have traditionally been the most popular way to show a person that you love them. This is especially true on Valentine’s Day. The Internet has made flower deliveries to your sweetheart convenient and easy. However, there are still some things you need to know. Here are some tips to make your on-line flower buying go smoothly: Do some checking and see what specific flowers are in season in your area. Flowers are cheaper when they are in season. This is because they do not need to be shipped from a distant location. Since Valentine’s Day is the busiest day of the year for florists and floral delivery companies, make sure you place your order as soon as possible. If you wait too long, the flowers you want may be out of stock. Also, they may be overbooked with flower deliveries. Flower orders can often take a few days to process. If your flowers are coming from far away, you will need to account for the delivery time. Inquire about the delivery method that the company uses to send their flowers. Most of the time, local florists use a container or a vase so that the flowers are ready for display. A distribution center ships the flowers in a box. This requires the flowers to be arranged. Choose a site that has reliable customer service. They will be able to answer all of your questions about your order. Also, they will be able to assist you if your order has any delays or snags. The prices of flowers vary widely...

Tips on Buying Valentines Day Flowers Online

Women and men both love to receive Valentines Day flowers, and the online world has made it even easier to get this accomplished. It is now possible to have flowers ordered and delivered from anywhere in the world. All that is needed is an internet connection and an online payment method. There are some things to think about though before ordering. Every online buyer should do some research into the company that is promising to deliver the Valentines Day flowers. There are some companies in cyberspace that do not operate with the best of intentions, so it is a wise idea to do some online comparisons, check out customer reviews and make certain that the business is legitimate. The BBB can assist with this process. A flower buyer needs to be sure that the flowers are always delivered as scheduled and that the flowers arrive in beautiful condition. The easiest way to distinguish between good and bad online sellers is by doing the comparisons. Some websites will offer these comparisons, but it is always a good idea to double-check things before buying. The main things that distinguish the good and bad sellers are the freshness and beauty of the bouquet, additional items that go along with the flowers if desired, punctual delivery and cost. Remember that just because something is extremely expensive does not mean that it is the best choice. There are reputable online flower companies that truly deliver spectacular...
